Summary:
Challenge: After successfully finding a new source for Education Outdoors’s flagship game resulting in a cost savings, RDS was asked to develop and source a new travel edition. The goal was to reduce the physical size of the game to make it more travel compatible. Additionally, RDS sought to find a solution that combined the box and game board into one piece with a wood exterior for a more unique look. We also ensured the final product met safety requirements for children ages 4-years-old and up.
Approach: Using our extensive sourcing experience with a variety of materials in conjunction with our manufacturing knowledge, RDS identified the ideal mix of suppliers that could not only produce the subcomponents and final product, but consistently deliver product to meet the strict safety requirements required for the age group.
Outcome: Education Outdoors successfully launched the travel edition of the Camp game at the New York Toy Fair and received enough orders to place a second production order immediately after the show.
