Summary:

Challenge: After helping Discovery Bay Games successfully launch the world’s first App enabled game accessory, the decision was made to develop a full product line. The second product required the use of Apple Made for iPad (MFi) proprietary components to operate.

Approach: As the MFi program was new to most retail product experts at the time of concept, RDS took on the challenge to develop expertise to assure MFi program guidelines were followed properly. This was achieved by building relationships within the technical team at Apple as well as with Avnet, the supplier of the Apple proprietary hardware. RDS also sourced a group of Firmware developers who had experience with MFi, which was in its infancy at the time.

Outcome: RDS helped Discovery Bay games successfully launch the Atari Arcade game controller only one retail year after the launch of the Duo Yoomi for iPad. The product was available for purchase at all major retailers including Target, Walmart, and Amazon.com.
